Frequently asked questions and answers
The Expar platform builds a bridge between the local environment and tourism. With the help of the Expar platform, you can quickly and easily offer your guests local products and services within your tourist accommodation and thus increase your earnings per guest.
The Expar platform allows you to order products and services from your local environment as well as add your own products that you would like to offer to your guests. And guests can make a purchase in just three steps. Expand your offer and do not be limited only by the price of your accommodation, but make sure that your guests leave their money with you.
On the Expar marketplace you will find verified products from verified suppliers, and you can also quickly and easily add a new product that you believe would sell well within your establishment. You can add anything from artwork, juices, souvenirs, to experiences that you or your friends offer.
During off-peak months, or when your monthly unit sales do not exceed €50, using the platform is free. So you only pay when you earn.
You are responsible for product supplies and your cleaning service is responsible for the inventory. After each guest visit, the accommodation needs to be cleaned and prepared for the arrival of new guests. This takes an additional 5 minutes to check the inventory and an additional 5 minutes to fill the shelf you have designated for sale.
The platform allows you to add employees who take care of the inventory. These employees have a current inventory in each unit, which needs to be refreshed, and if there is a difference, the system notifies you that a theft has occurred. In that case, you proceed in the same way as if someone had stolen your TV from your apartment. You demand reimbursement of the damage or costs from the previous guests.
If you don’t have your own products or suppliers, you can find them at the Expar marketplace, where we offer a wide range of unique products from various categories and regions.
To sell goods or provide services within EU Member States or other countries, a business must be properly registered in an accepted legal form and have its activities correctly recorded in the national business register in line with applicable classifications. Any changes to business data must be reported to the competent authority, and in some countries a qualified digital identity may be required for electronic communication, document signing, and access to public portals.
Businesses must also comply with tax obligations, including VAT and cross-border sales rules, and obtain any necessary permits for regulated activities. While the EU ensures the free movement of goods and services, compliance with the national laws of the country of operation remains mandatory.
If there is no offer, there are no purchases. Most tourism providers did not sell products and services within the accommodation before using the Expar application, because they assessed that their guests did not need it. This same majority was positively surprised by the sales when they started with the Expar store.
